McCurtain County is situated in the Kiamichi Mountains and the Ouachita National Forest, surrounded by natural beauty all around. Broken Bow is conveniently located near Broken Bow Lake and the Mountain Fork River that forms the lake. The area offers many exciting things to keep visitors and residents busy. The centerpiece is the river and lake where you can bring your own canoe, kayak, powerboat or personal watercraft, or rent from a local outfitter, whichever is convenient for you. Of course, the Upper and Lower Mountain Fork River, as well as Broken Bow Lake, is renowned for its excellent fishing including trout fishing.
